Florida Governor Rick Scott stopped by Apex Technology in Jacksonville Tuesday to recognize the construction company for helping to grow the state’s economy.
Scott said, “They’ve added 15 jobs in the last 12 months; their plan is to add 60 jobs in the next four years.”
In addition to putting more people to work, Scott also praised Apex for helping its employees go to college. Russell Dukes, a 36-year-old man, says he took advantage of the company’s tuition-reimbursement program to earn an engineering degree from the University of North Florida.
“They basically paid my tuition and my books up to 100%, depending on what kind of grades I got,” said Dukes. “So it was a big incentive to go to school, stay, study hard and make it through.”
Apex Technology has offices in Jacksonville, Tampa and Frederick, Maryland.
